Secure your passwords from getting hacked

Want to stay ultra secure with your passwords – even if you use a password manager and it gets hacked?

Follow these 2 tips:

1/ Add a comma to your passwords : Why? During a breach, stolen password files are often converted into CSV (Comma-Separated Value) format for analysis. A comma in your password can disrupt the file’s structure, making it harder for attackers to import and use your credentials.

2/ Salt your passwords before saving them : This sounds technical, but it’s not. Simply add 3 extra alphanumeric characters to your password when entering it on a website – but don’t save those extra characters in your password manager. For example:

– Password saved in your password manager: 3h8Sl1u^,20aHlaK
– Password you actually use: 3h8Sl1u^,20aHlaK4bT. “4bT” is your unique addition NOT saved in your password manager.

This way, even if your password manager is compromised, your actual passwords remain secure.

If you have 100’s of passwords like me at a minimum, focus on these accounts:

– META Platforms: Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger (Facebook Connect can amplify damage)
– Messaging Apps: WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Discord etc.
– LinkedIn: Your professional reputation depends on it
– Personal email: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Yahoo, ProtonMail, etc.
– Work email: Single Sign-On (SSO) systems like IT, HR, and Finance are prime targets
– Banking: You don’t want to log in and find… nothing

Password managers like Keeper Security, Inc., Dashlane, 1Password, Bitwarden, and LastPass are great platforms, but no system is hacker proof. These extra steps can give you an added layer of protection.

Stay safe out there! 💻🔒
