284M unique email/passwords released on ALIEN TXTBASE

“Have I Been Pwned” https://haveibeenpwned.com/ reported this morning the largest known data breach recorded yet. In their own words:

“In February 2025, 23 billion rows of stealer logs were obtained from a Telegram channel known as ALIEN TXTBASE. The data contained 284M unique email addresses alongside the websites they were entered into and the passwords used. This data is now searchable in HIBP by both email domain and the domain of the target website.”

The website is run by Microsoft MVP Troy Hunt and is a terrific resource to check your email address and stay abreast of ongoing breaches and security threats.

A timely reminder to NEVER have the same password across multiple web properties, change your password as least once a year. And use a password safe!

I wrote about using a password safe in more detail here: https://theculturemind.com/2017/08/31/what-is-a-password-safe/
